BANG STREET FOOD
Not for the faint hearted

STRATEGY / IDENTITY / PRINT / ENVIRONMENT / DIGITAL
BANG is a street food-inspired Bangladeshi restaurant located on Crown Street in Sydney. As a restaurant and brand BANG is designed to be representative of two cultures, yet rebellious against the stereotypical cliché of each. It’s unique and, from the moment you walk through the door, strikingly raw, uncompromising and exciting. Well what would you expect with a name like BANG?
Strategy
Our strategy for the brand identity was to create a backdrop to the colourful dishes and characters that fill the restaurant on a nightly basis, something that complemented rather than competed with the space and atmosphere, a setting to the party, not a formal invitation.
Brand identity
The branding fuses contemporary street and pop art influences, with Bangladeshi cultural elements, such as tigers, ship breakers and the national flag. It’s deliberately raw, tongue-in-cheek and changes with each application using a myriad of bespoke icons, each creating a BANG.
Brand experience
The brand is deliberately recessive yet, in places, vivid red neon punctuates the otherwise monochromatic palette, in reference to the glowing signs that illuminate the streets of Bengal at night. It feels raw, uncompromising and exciting - just like the streets of Bangladesh.
